About Us

The Barriere Professional Recruitment Committee was originally formed to assist with the recruitment of physicians. The Committee has expanded its function to include the recruitment of all professionals as well as partnering with the District of Barriere to promote local economic development opportunities. The Committee is comprised of volunteers from all walks of life with a common goal of assisting anyone who wishes to know more about the opportunities that are awaiting them in Barriere.

The District of Barriere was incorporated on December 4th 2007. The District Council is comprised of a Mayor and six Councillors. Barriere has its own water system and new subdivisions have their own sewer systems. Since incorporation, parks have been developed to include walking trails, a bandshell and up to date public washrooms. There are future plans for a splash pad and outdoor exercise equipment. The District is nearing completion of it's Official Community Plan (OCP) and will then undertake to update its Zoning Bylaw.
